Also built in the 1950s and 1960s, this area has a more mixed housing stock and population than Kanaleneiland. Also here a mix between high-rise, middle-rise and single-family dwellings can be seen, but Nieuw-Hoograven has relatively more owner-occupied units and fewer social rented dwellings. Many elderly people still live here and the proportion of ethnic minorities is around 52 per cent.

The total number of inhabitants is 6,000. For more than a decade there has been a substantial inflow of ethnic minorities together with an outflow of middle-income nationals, who are leaving for newer neighbourhoods elsewhere. A restructuring policy applies to this area and several blocks of flats have already been demolished.
